Inheritance Cycle: Shades Rising (Sign-up)

Many years ago, the Dragon Rider Eragon defeated Galbatorix, the evil, demented Rider that had once claimed himself king over all Alagaësia. Over these many years, Eragon has established a new Order of Dragon Riders, and Saphira has laid many eggs for new Riders to come. Alagaësia has been in a state of perpetual peace for many years.

However, all of that is about to change.

During the fall of Galbatorix, many of his high-level spellcasters escaped. Over the years, their madness increased bit by bit, until, now, it has suddenly exploded. Fifty-two spellcasters made a circle with their most gifted in the center. All linked as one, they stretched their minds into the ethereal, gathering the most powerful spirits they could, and called upon them. They planned to make a force of power the likes of which the face of Alagaësia had never before seen.

Thirty-nine of the spellcasters died in the effort.

The thirteen left became powerful Shades.

Eragon has called the Order together, for this is no easy task or measly event. Just challenging one Shade had almost killed Eragon; twice. Shadeslayer was not a title to be taken lightly.

Will you take up the mantle, and be one to help this dark time?

NOTE: I have not read the fourth book, Inheritance, just yet. While some of you may have had that luxury, this is solely fan-based. So, whatever happens in Inheritance will not change this.

Gender: Self-explanatory.

Race: Human, Rider, Elf, Dwarf, Urgal (Yeah, sorry, you're not gonna be another Shade. Just not happenin', brah). You may be a Rider while also one of these races. Just know becoming a Rider makes you look like a hybrid with an elf, unless, of course, you are an elf. So a dwarf might get a littler taller with some pointed ears...

Appearance: A description of your character's physical attributes.

Weapon: Every Rider will be able to have a Rider's sword.
Name: The name of your weapon.

Home/Place of Origin: Primarily cities, but you could come from an area. Here's a map of Alagaësia.

Personality: The inner workings of your character.

Back Story: Your character's origins.

Dragon's Name:
Color: This is the color of your dragon's scales, the color of your Rider's sword, and the color of your dragon's eyes and dragonbreath.

Name: I'm so gonna get bashed for this... Jecht Vraelson. Yes, his father's name was Vrael, but he wasn't the Vrael.

Nickname: N/A

Age: 19

Gender: If you didn't see the suffix -son in his last name, Male.

Race: Rider

Appearance: Jecht is a well built man, who partakes in the Rimgar whenever the opportunity presents itself for him to do so privately, or with other men exercising. He has naturally red hair and crimson eyes, which leads most people to believe that Jecht is a Shade. However, he is not a Shade, but a Rider. Some Riders have hypothesized that a magic event happened while he was in his mother's womb to make his hair red, but it has not, of course, been proven.

He likes wearing crimson clothes given to him by the elves, and blood red leather armor forged by the same.

Weapon: Rider's sword
Appearance: Jecht's sword looks like a present-day ninjato. It is a thin, three foot long sword designed to be a hand-and-a-half sword, with one edge. It is blood red, and has the glyph of the Ancient Language for æðra on it; which means despair. Its sheath is the same color red, and, like all other Rider swords, has the glyph on the scabbard as well.

Place of Origin: Belatona

Personality: Jecht is usually calm, cool, and collected. In battle he tries to take out his enemies as quickly as he can without consuming too much of his strength. As such, he usually prefers blade to blade over Wizard Duels.

Backstory: Jecht was raised as someone to be feared for his Shade-like appearance, scaring all the children around him. The adults knew better, though, and though wary about his blood red hair, they accepted him. As such, Jecht grew up mentally very quickly.

When he reached age thirteen, his father, named after the first of the Riders, Vrael, died. He had never been too healthy. Just a few months later, all the people in town were called to the town square, and arranged in a line to see if anyone out of them became the next Dragon Rider. Three people were chosen that day.

One was a fair-haired girl, named Anna. She was chosen when her hand found its place on a golden egg. The second was a black haired boy named Marok, whose hand fell on a silver egg. These children and adults didn't have to touch all of the eggs in any specific order. As such, Jecht had noticed that every adult and child had often skipped over a ruby-colored egg; remembering how red dragons had hurt them so much in the past; what with Morzan, and Murtagh.

Jecht, however, held no such resentment. Sympathizing with the egg over such a thing as being neglected due to color, he waltzed up out of turn, jumped up onto the platform, and before anyone could stop him, he reached and touched the red egg. And, much to his surprise...nothing happened.

Those gathered laughed at him, save for Anna and Marok. "He thought he could become a Dragon Rider? How presumptuous!" Jecht ignored them. He kept his gaze on the egg. "I just wanted to let you know...that I know how you must feel." Suddenly, the egg wobbled, and an icy energy shot up his arm, His body seared with unimaginable pain, yet he stood there, and the egg calmed down, before cracking open, a baby red dragon falling out cluelessly. He caught it as the crowd went silent, and looked at the surrounding people, a gedwey ignasia now on the palm of his right hand. He shrugged, and carried his dragon off of the platform.

As he walked through the crowd, them parting like a sea, a sudden urge overcame him as a word popped into his head. He didn't know what the word was; he had never even heard it before. However, it was now in his mind, and he knew what it meant, for whatever reason it was. "I name thee Hraezla."


Dragon's Name: Hraezla, which means fear.
Color: You guessed it: blood red.
Personality: Hraezla has a very serious personality, which causes people to become shocked when he cracks a joke. He is a very large dragon now, having had much opportunity to grow.

Crap...I forgot to tell you the Ancient Language is heavily based on Old Norse. But I won't nag about the Latin. Approved.

Sorry, non of the user have been on in awhile but that will change. So I do believe it isn't too late to join.

Finished Inheritance. I have edited to make Dwarf and Urgal riders playable.

Sweetness, I have gotten a new Idea.
When users want to join a Roleplay, you should make a Spot in The Character Bios section named after the Roleplay Title. Then you can accept and deny as you please.
So all Roleplayers who create a Roleplaying thread can do a similar thing. Sound good?
So you wouldn't have to post Character bios on the place where you'll be Roleplaying.
If you ever need to check back provide a link to it at the beginning of your roleplay.
